Using technology to keep your teams safe

12 King Street works to new standards because it has never been more important to ensure staff remain safe at work – and to help the planet.

With a rise in the Internet of Things – technologies that connect with other devices and systems – there has been a growth in the number of tools that can be installed that enable building managers and landlords to monitor how offices are being used.

12 King Street uses several biosecurity measures as well as smart building management systems which not only enable a safe, smart and secure workplace but also help to save energy.  We are all aware of how important it is to be energy efficient at home and that also extends to commercial buildings.

12 King Street’s smart building services enable the M&E (mechanical and electrical) to be monitored remotely and also deploys the auto-detection of lighting, heating and cooling when there are occupiers in a space, which helps to minimise energy usage. There is also technology in place that controls air quality – a consideration all the more important as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic – so fresh air is always available inside the building.

Smart sensors also detect when there are issues that need attention or when routine maintenance needs to be carried out.

Fire safety is paramount and 12 King Street does not compromise on this issue. Should there be an emergency, the incoming fire service can see the building’s life safety information, which provides details on a number of occupants and where they are located, and which areas of the building have smoke and heat sensors and CCTV. This ensures that fire personnel can plan the most effective building entry point. The system also notifies occupiers of the safest escape route and meeting point and automatically registers each person out of the building.

With the health of smart building technology in place, it is clear that 12 King Street takes the safety of people seriously.
